About

Three generations on George Street

Nories is a family-run chippy, now in its third generation, doing what Oban expects of one: locally caught fish in a light, crisp batter, wrapped in old-fashioned paper. Alongside the haddock and cod there's haggis, black and white pudding, sausage suppers and salt and pepper squid.

You'll find it on George Street right by the CalMac ferry terminal, which is why so many visitors make it their first or last stop in town. When Gordon Ramsay, Gino D'Acampo and Fred Sirieix came through Oban for ITV, this is where they ate — and they rated it the best fish and chips in Oban. More than 2,700 reviewers on TripAdvisor and Google seem to agree.
